MOGAN

Our clients had bought a small studio, created by the informal growth of the building of just 30m2, distributed in living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Despite its small size, it has two terraces of 15 and 20 square meters each.

The apartment required a comprehensive reform, and a redistribution of space to optimize flows, and the division of day and night spaces. With these premises we designed the briefing of the project that sought tocreate a summer home in the heart of a village in the desert, design a tiny house, with all the comforts of a modern apartment, andcreate a spatial continuity between the interior and exterior of the apartment, multiplying the usable area of the same, in an area with more than 3000h of sunshine a year.

Using a strategy of minimum intervention and maximum impact, we decided to eliminate access to the bedroom through the living room, to effectively separate the living and sleeping areas. A sliding door serves to divide the two rooms. When the door closes the living room, the bedroom expands to include the closet and bathroom, creating an en suite space connected to the rear terrace. During the day, the door closes over the bedroom, allowing access to the bathroom and visually and physically connecting the two terraces. This creates the sensation of a much largerspace .

By eliminating the access to the bedroom from the living room, that wall is free for the implementation of the TV cabinet , which joins with the kitchen furniture. In this way we optimize space and create a unified solution.

In recent years, the area of Tamaraceite and Lomo los Frailes in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has been undergoing a process of expansion due to the development of new commercial areas and the substantial improvement of communications infrastructure, to the point of becoming a crossroads between the north and south of the island. Despite this growth, it continues to maintain a marked neighborhood character, with low-density buildings and access to multiple green and commercial areas. For this reason, the area is being revitalized and is becoming an attractive option for many young people who want to start a life in a good apartment, without the economic pressure of living in the city center.
